Tennessee Titans. The Tennessee Titans of Nashville, Tennessee are a professional football team in the South Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League. Formerly the Houston Oilers, who started playing in 1960 in the old American Football League and won two AFL championships, the team moved to Tennessee in 1997. For two seasons, Tennessee retained the Oilers nickname. In 1999, Adelphia Coliseum (which has since been renamed LP Field) was the new home of the newly-named Titans, who finished the season 13 - 3 - the best record in the team’s history.
